Ans: The young trees are described as 'sprinting' with respect to old age. In diper meaning, sprinting young trees the poet means that the youth passes out of the life of human being very quickly and that person enters his old age where he nears his death.
3. Why has the poet brought in the image of the merry children 'spilling' out of their homes?
Ans: The image of the merry children creats a poetic effects through contrast. It is symbolic of life, merriment, vitality and jones. The poets mother is an image of age, frailty and decay. This contrast being the painful realisation that time was coming closer to a hugs lost in the daughters life.
4. Why was the mother been compared to the 'late winter's moon?
Ans: The mother is compared to the late winter's moon because just like the moon of the winter session, the poet's mother is also dull, grays, pall and her strength is diminishing waning.
5. What do the parting words of the poet and her smile signify?
Ans: The parting words 'see you soon amma ' and her smile signify the poet fear an her continuous efforts to hide it behind a smile. It is also an assurance she gives to her mother as well as herself. It also signify that she find herself clinging to a hope that she will see her mother again.
